twisting further nails [Mar. 17th, 2004|12:36 pm]
landlords- estate agents- are the scum of the useless middle management, middle classes.
how come they are under the illusion that they are doing us a favour?
i pay my rent- not allways on time but i've been theer 2 years and owe them nothing- yet they are rude arrogant and incapable of getting even simple things, like the heating, repaired in the middle of winter.
enough ranting hehe.
busy week for skelliga- colchester the twist /soundhouse on friday- then glastonbury assembly rooms on saturday- followed by a big party- it's the equinox-then off to the henge or the tor(depending how wasted we are - for sunrise.
a good weeks work-
next week after-
that sat the 27th- we're playing in the electrowerkz(torrens street islington)- admission 5pounds, 7-11. - coming to the gig provides free admission to slimelight for the rest of the night 11p.m. till 7 a.m.(cheaper than the door-and you don't have to be a member). our support is - jacks family- and spit like this. both interesting dark music.
whats the rest of you lot out there up to?
hope you are busy and happy.

the Kill Freeman Faculty [Mar. 9th, 2004|03:08 pm]
[mood | bouncy]
[music |atari teenage riot- to dead for me]

Hmmm. Band number 3 is well under way - 3 songs into a set after two practices. gotta be the quickest work ever for me. the line up is ME , JAmie, Scottish Paul, And Jon Ping. it's quite probably the maddest band i've ever been in too- we're going to be making it very performative on stage- lots of improv and weird Stuff. gongs, nakedness,Body paint and visuals. as well as the most manic sounding cacophany of noises i've ever heard. i spent hours perfecting squeeking rusty metal noises on one of my synths. we have a collection of looted bicycle bells- enough to play any scale you like- paul just has to have them if theyre different sounding- tibetan bicycle orchestra a gogo!
anyone out there got any thoughts on the viabillity of such a band?
i'm not sure if many people will 'get' it.
but the tunes will be strong enough to stand alone.

skellymadness [Feb. 27th, 2004|02:29 pm]
[mood | excited]
[music |anything by burning spear]

what a wierd gig, portland arms cambridge.
fire and forget, rome burns and then us-
violin broke down half way through th third song- so i started playing the bassline from dub be good to me/guns of brixton- tim exmanna maya and scotish paullll improvised spoken word stuff over the top- i really enjoyed it. improvisation is much more exciting and unpredictable than organised stuff.
stef even played a bit of ' record industry puppet' - his new tune.
tanks to all the dark people who made the night such a success.

much love to everyone.
it snowed last night too- so i'm happy.hehe(maniacal laughter)

see some of you in glastonbury town at the assembly rooms gig.and probably the rest at our upcoming slimelight gig. what a night that will be.
jacks family doing support(wonderfull goth violin virtuosity), with spit like this- they sound like the new york dolls on ketamine( the bass player is beautifull too!)then 10 hours of dancing to drill n' bass for me.

skelliga debut for Poly-phonic [Feb. 17th, 2004|07:29 pm]
[mood | exanimate]
[music |new tune me an jamie wrote today- no name yet]

hehe- good night was had by all i think- t,k. and shamice taking liquid and sugarcubes at 3 in the morning was mental though- we collectively drank lods of beer-1 litre of jack d- 2And a half litres of vodka too. quite a good after show party really.
i dont think i've been that drunk in ages.
the gig went quite well for a first outing for polly-phonic(our new violinist), she'll settle down fine. i think skelliga are going to have a good year.
skelliga playin at the portland arms on weds the 25th of feb support from rome burns-electro goth ebm metal, and fire and forget- local judas priest lovin goth boyz and girlz. wednesdays usually suck- butthis one is on the week after the calling- so all the darklings have nothing to do!

twisting turning seabird silhouettes,
that roll and wheel and parting fetch-away
pinkish damply fingers clutching,
holding, breaking
parted, touching.

aching at the portland [Feb. 9th, 2004|08:52 pm]
[mood |indescribable]
[music |stef and pollyphonic annoying acoustic peeps in other room]

went to see perfect circle at hammersmith last week- wicked show - enjoyed auf der mer too- but her singing didn't convince me yet. bumped into one of th guys from swarf at the gig- hopefully i can get them to play with skelliga again sometime soon. nice shiny/beautiful people- good to see the goths dancing hard at the boatrace too. Ahhh wahat a busy week- out to the kambar for andy cairns dj set tommorow. me and the others from subsist will be playing at the portland with 'Graft' and 'shiverbox'- on wednesday 11th. Skelliga firing off again at the Valentines day massacre at the man on the moon Cambridge- with Misery among other spiky spookies- Sat 14th feb. now for the gratuitous gossip- my ex girlfriend phoned me today - went out with her for ages- she went to discover herself in various exotic climes- now after 2 years she's back in the same advertising job she had before she left- in the same office. wonder what she discovered?
good to hear from her though

Subsist and survive [Jan. 29th, 2004|03:35 pm]
[mood |ambivalentmendacious]
[music |concubine-subsist]

me and the guys from SUbsist are playing at the man on the moon on saturday the 31st of jan. we're going to debut a new tibetanenharmonic+djcomputerlove type choon. should confuse ourselves. hehe.
other bands include the wicked tool-on-funky-crack sounds of Meadowman and The marvelous Rude Mechanicals - soundslike pj harvey doing a david lynch soundtrack on ketamine.

Hope to see some friendlies at the venue.

up the punx

today [Jan. 20th, 2004|04:15 pm]
[music |unrequite- by me]

the anniversary of my fathers death approaches.
this thursday it will be one whole year since i watched him choke on his own phlegm and fight- for 18 hours for a life that was already leaving his cancer riddled body.

consciousness is like squinting through a hole at an infinite universe.

Full Moon? [Sep. 6th, 2003|03:29 pm]
strange things happen don't they?
i was bitten by a wolf this week.
i kid you not.
whilst enjoying dinner with some friends near cambridge (and having quite a nice time making plans for next years strawberry fair.)
a friend of my hosts arrived, with what at first glance appeared to be a very large grey+ white alsatian. it was actually a half breed timber wolf/alsatian. she was quite good natured ( if a little excitable!)-
if there were a moral to this story it's probably "don't wake up a timber wolf by trying to stroke it"
not sure what that means.
or if i indeed am now a were-alsatian.

the mystery deepens. [Aug. 11th, 2003|03:34 pm]
So what did i do this weekend?
i went to the party at our house - which was quiettill about10.30p.m.,
then quickly escalated into a mad drum and bass session, garden party and food/ water fight.
even after my protestations that i was going to bed early- so i would be awake for the gig on saturday,
i didnt sleep till 5.30a.m.!
the gig was strange- an all day event in a large club- The soundhouse in northampton.
the support band was a cool, goth, sludge girly band.
it was over 100 degrees in that club - pitch darkness with u.v. lighting picking out only the parts that glow.
even without Chaz on violin and 2nd guitar we rocked like B***ards. generating a lot of applause- and enquiries, after the gig.
the rest of the afternoon we spent on an island at a secret location in the northampton area- smoking esoteric tobbaco on the river.
touring is fun.

enough for now i think

first post! [Aug. 8th, 2003|03:53 pm]
Well i've finally figured out how to create a live journal- now what to do with it?
who knows.
so i'll just air the thoughts in my mind.
what to do tonight?
party at my house (beckys birthday), or running the visuals at a rave (with stef and jason from neuroptics- vj's to the fridge among others),
problem is i have a gig early tommorow afternoon- without the other guitarist in skelliga(chaz), so its all ears on me- and no violin to hide behind.hehe
actually i'm quite optimistic- band practice in this format leaves skelliga harder edged and stripped down(with grazed knees!)- you can actually hear what i'm doing properly- ehh bye gum -reminds me of my days as sole guitarist in Windmill( punk as fuck with my sister on vocals).
what will i do?
geuss i'll have to read my journal tommorrow to find out.
hehe
